Here’s what Brad Wilcox gets wrong in his Alpine youth fireside on February 6, 2022. He’s been giving this same talk for years, it wasn’t an “oops” moment. These statements reflect insensitive attitudes, abusive language and false teachings originating from the church.

0:17 – Wilcox says when youth bare their testimonies after FSY, the adults will stop fighting over vaccines and masks, and that FSY will be a turning point for the entire church. This shows the desperation the church leaders are in over youth and members leaving.

1:24 – Then he says, if you look at the numbers, there are not more members leaving the church now versus any other time and that the church is strong. It is well known that the church has been losing more members in the last years than ever before, and it’s growing weaker.

2:12 – Next he says those who leave the church do so without God and Christ. This is not true, as many members who stop attending still believe in God and Christ, because believing in the church does not equate to belief in the Godhead. Many are coming unto Christ without the need of the church and to claim otherwise is a lie.

3:06 – Similar to the previous clip, now Wilcox falsely ties walking away from the church with disbelieving Joseph Smith and throwing away our whole concept of God. Many members strongly believe in Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon and the nature of God, as taught by Joseph, and still stop coming to Church.

3:50 – Then he says: “it’s a good thing you’re not feeling the spirit like a fire all the time,” and “the spirit of God like a furnace is working.” He mockingly teaches the false doctrine that the Baptism of Fire and the Holy Ghost is a lifelong process, when in reality, it is a one-time event, as we read in the Book of Mormon. See DoctrineOfChrist.com for more.

4:49 – Now he says to those leaving the church “say goodbye to the gift of the Holy Ghost” and “you will miss the peace, comform and sanctification…” Many who no longer believe in the prophet and apostles are actively seeking and have received the Baptism of Fire and the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.

5:29 – Next he says, “most people in the world are playing church,” and “we have the authority.” The church does not have the higher priesthood, as it was removed in 1834 when God put in under condemnation. They still don’t have it today, especially in light of their involvement with the wicked secret combinations, such as the communist U.N. and their pushing poisons on the members. See Ether 8:23-25 for more.

6:46 – Wilcox next throws God under the bus for the church denying the priesthood to those of African descent, instead of saying the truth that it was the racist policy of Brigham Young. And then he says condescendingly that we should be grateful that the priesthood was restored to “the blacks” in 1978.

8:01 – Speaking to the young women, he says, “you will go temples where you will be endowed with priesthood power.” The issue here is temple ordinances are only symbolic and this is exactly what members are told while performing them there.

8:24 – Next, Wilcox asks us, “what is it that sisters are bringing with them from pre-mortal life that men are trying to learn through ordination?” This is not taught currently by the chuch, nor was it taught by Joseph Smith.

9:44 – He next says we believe in Jesus because of the first presidency, which has the same priesthood authority and special witness of the Savior as Peter, James and John did. However, none of the first presidency have ever declared that they have seen Jesus. They cannot live up to Oliver Cowdery’s 1835 apostolic charge and equating them to the ancient apostles is a blatant lie. We know this when we take the Holy Spirit as our guide and see the church’s evil fruit.

11:03 – He goes on to tell us that if we say goodbye to living prophets, we are stuck with only the Bible. This, of course, is false because many people who’ve said goodbye to the living prophets still believe in Christ and his doctrine, as taught in the Book of Mormon, and actually become closer to Christ as they live in accordance with his everlasting convenant.

11:37 – Lastly, Wilcox says with a tone of narcissism, “If you walk away from this religion, you lose everything.” This is very abusive language and is how one tries to unrighteously dominate the other. He is causing the youth to feel tremendous guilt and shame if they question the church or consider leaving it.
